RECEP TAYYİP ERDOĞAN UNIVERSITY The Faculty of Fisheries was established in Rize province under the Black Sea Technical University with the Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992. Until October 4, 1999, it continued its service in a 170 m2 building in Rize Center Çarşı Mahallesi Hacı Eşref Street. After this date, it served until 2001-2002 academic year in a 5-storey building built on 328 m2 closed area and 1350 m2 open area built by the Kalkavan Family in İyidere-Sarayköy in Rize province for the 1999-2000 academic year. This building was allocated to the Rectorate of Karadeniz Technical University as the Faculty of Fisheries with the decision of Rize Province Standing Commission dated 15.06.2000 and numbered 233. This building is currently used as an Application and Research building. In the 2002-2003 academic year, it was moved to the building on 5000 m2 closed area built by the General Directorate of Tekel in Rize center Fener Neighborhood. Our faculty was included under the roof of Rize University, which was established with the Law No. 5467 on the establishment of 15 new universities, which entered into force after being published in the Official Gazette dated March 17, 2006 and numbered 26111. With the Law No. 6287 published in the Official Gazette dated 11.04.2012, the name of Rize University was changed to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University and as of this date, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Faculty of Fisheries continues its education and training in Zihni Derin Campus in the city center of Rize. Since the 2002-2003 academic year, it has been continuing its education and training at postgraduate (master's) level. Our faculty has started education at the doctorate level since the 2013-2014 academic year.
