There are 11 academic staff in the department, including 2 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 1 Dr. Lecturer, 3 Research Assistants and 2 Lecturers. The department operates under 2 departments as Fisheries Technology Department and Processing Technology Department.
Fisheries Technology Department
The Department of Fishing Technology conducts research on fisheries management, selectivity of fishing gears, monitoring of fish stocks and population parameters, design of fishing gears with an ecosystem approach and the interaction of marine mammals and fisheries. Age determination and histology laboratory, fisheries biology laboratory, fishing technology laboratory, research vessels named "Karadeniz Araştırma" are used in the conduct of scientific studies.
Processing Technology Department
In addition to academic activities, the Department of Processing Technology directs its studies by considering the needs of the private sector in our region. In terms of scientific research, biochemical, sensory, microbiological and chemical analyzes are carried out in order to determine new product development and appropriate packaging techniques, chemical composition of products and shelf life under different storage conditions. There are aquaculture processing and feed technology, microbiology, product development and packaging laboratories within the department.
