The social responsibility project titled “Water and Life”, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra BAYÇELEBİ from our Faculty and conducted under the leadership of Melek YILDIZ, one of our Faculty’s students, with the contributions of our Faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazel Baytaşoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samet Kalkan, and Dr. Lecturer Zeynep Zehra İPEK as researchers, has been completed. The project was carried out with students of MNG Primary School located in the Arhavi district of Artvin, which is affiliated with the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye.

Within the scope of the project, students were informed about the amount of water on Earth, the proportions of freshwater and saltwater, the molecular structure of water, and the limited availability of usable (drinking) water. In addition, through a storytelling approach, the purposes of dams and the water cycle within the atmosphere were explained, and the importance of water that changes form in our lives was shared with young students. The project was implemented with the aim of increasing students’ awareness by once again emphasizing the importance of the sustainability of our life resources in the future.
