25 Aralık 2025 Perşembe

The social responsibility project entitled “Meeting Aquatic Organisms: Discover, Learn, Protect”, carried out by the Faculty of Fisheries at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, has been successfully completed. The project was supervised by Lecturer Dr. İsmail AKSU, a member of the academic staff of the Faculty, and coordinated by Nur USTA, an undergraduate student of the Faculty. Within the scope of the project, a total of 349 students from kindergartens and primary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye in Rize Province visited the Aquatic Organisms Collection at the Faculty of Fisheries, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. During these visits, students were introduced to the fish species included in the collection and provided with general information about Türkiye’s aquatic fauna and ecosystems. Throughout the activities, students had the opportunity to closely observe aquatic organisms and examine real specimens. These hands-on experiences using authentic materials enabled students to gain concrete and lasting knowledge about the biological characteristics, life styles, and ecological roles of aquatic organisms within ecosystems. In addition, the project aimed to raise awareness of sustainable fisheries and nature conservation, emphasizing the importance of protecting aquatic resources for future generations. The project made a significant contribution to fostering environmental awareness at an early age and strengthening university–community engagement.
