The social responsibility project titled “Journey to the Underwater World: Explore, Protect, Live,” which was advised by our Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma DELİHASAN SONAY and executed by our faculty student Adrian Ali SÜREK, has been completed. Faculty academic staff who contributed as researchers include Assist. Prof. Dr. Akif ER, Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Zehra İPEK, Assist. Prof. Dr. Münevver ORAL KABA, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mert MİNAZ, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşe KARA, Lecturer Dr. Muhammed Nurullah ARSLAN, and Lecturer Dr. İsmail AKSU. Within the scope of the project, 1969 students from 23 different primary schools and 8 different secondary schools affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of National Education were brought to the Aquarium Unit of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Faculty of Fisheries. The students were informed about the aquatic creatures housed in the aquarium unit. Their curiosity was satisfied, and their interest was further increased by answering questions from the children on subjects such as nature, environment, aquatic biodiversity, fish species, and sustainability. Primary and secondary school students’ awareness about aquarium setup, design, and the organisms raised within them has increased, making them more conscious in this regard
