Within the scope of the social responsibility project titled "ÇEDES: I Am Sensitive to My Environment, I Protect My Values-2", conducted under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cüneyt KAYA, a faculty member of our faculty, and with Dr. Münevver ORAL KABA as a researcher, activities were carried out with the students of Hüseyin Yardımcı Secondary School, which is affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Rize province. Within the scope of the project, a seminar was given to secondary school students on environmental awareness, human-induced pollutants, and ghost fishing, which threatens our seas and inland waters, and the leopard carp, one of the world’s 10 most sought-after fish species, was introduced to the students as a species inhabiting the waters of our country. The search journey of this fish was supported with visuals and introduced to the students to show how academic studies are conducted both in the field and in laboratory environments. After the activities, tours were organized in our faculty’s aquatic organisms collection and aquarium, and the students’ curiosity for science and evidence-based learning was kept at the highest level.
