Our faculty's social responsibility project titled “Heritage from Water: Introduction to the Aquatic Collection,” led by Lecturer Dr. İsmail AKSU, with contributions from our faculty's academic staff Prof. Dr. Şevki KAYIŞ as advisor and Dr. Lecturer Ayşe KARA as researcher, has been successfully completed. As part of the project, the Aquatic Products Collection at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University's Faculty of Aquatic Products was opened to the public, and participants were provided with information on aquatic biodiversity, fish species, ecosystems, and sustainable fishing. In addition, vertebrate and invertebrate creatures in the collection were introduced, raising awareness about endangered species. Throughout the activities carried out in this project, which started on 05/02/2024 and ended on 04/09/2025, many people, especially students from different school groups in the province of Rize, visited the collection and had the opportunity to see the creatures they were curious about up close and learn about their scientific characteristics. This comprehensive project has raised public awareness about the protection and sustainability of aquatic life and emphasized the importance of passing on our collection to future generations.
